Whether you want to fix a garment, alter a skirt, or transform a dress into a top or cover up a stain, Jen will teach you the skills to bring new life to your wardrobe. Each course will depend on what you and others in the group bring to upcycle! This class is a friendly, relaxed environment in which you'll learn how to repair or upcycle not only your own garments but pick up hints and tricks from what others are working on too. You'll gain essential sewing knowledge and practical tips to build your confidence in transforming old garments into new! *Please note: This venue is accessed by stairs and has no lift.* Add-on available for this class Sewing machine induction (+30 mins before class) (£5) You can add these when you book (optional). Knowledge required Suitable for complete beginners and those returning to sewing who need a refresher. If you've never used a sewing machine before or would like a refresher, please add the option to arrive 30 minutes earlier for an introduction to using the machines! Summerhall Courtyard Commission: Open Call for Visual Artists

For the third year running, Summerhall is delighted to announce the annual Summerhall Courtyard Commission Project. Through a process of open-call proposal submissions and a panel selection, the project offers one local artist the opportunity to create site-specific work that will be exhibited on a permanent basis. This year we invite artists to submit proposals for commissioned pieces that respond to the theme of ‘transformation’. The resultant work will be displayed on the outside of B Block in the Summerhall Courtyard. We can’t wait to see the myriad of ways local artists interpret the theme and to unveil the transformation.
